Thank you for visiting the Law Office of Joel Ankney, PC ("Ankney Law") web site. This web site was created by Ankney Law, so that you could learn more about the legal services we offer. This is for informational purposes only. None of the information at this web site is intended to constitute, nor does it constitute, legal advi
ce. You should not act or refrain from acting on the basis of any content included in this site without seeking the appropriate legal or other professional advice on the particular facts and circumstances at issue from an attorney licensed in your state.  Joel Ankney is licensed to practice law only in Virginia.

This site is not intended to solicit representation that would constitute the unauthorized practice of law in any jurisdiction.

This Web site is not intended to create and does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and Joel Ankney. The only way to become our client is through mutual agreement in a formal letter or electronic agreement. The determination of whether you need legal services and your choice of a lawyer are very important matters and should not be based solely on web site information or advertisements. Joel Ankney is the attorney responsible for the content of this Web site. This site is operated under the Law Office of Joel Ankney, PC, a Virginia professional corporation. Joel Ankney is licensed to practice law in Virginia.

Ankney Law disclaims all responsibility for any loss, injury, claim, liability, or damage of any kind resulting from, arising out of or any way related to (A) any errors in or omissions from this site and its content, including but not limited to technical inaccuracies and typographical errors, (B) Any third party web sites or content therein directly or indirectly accessed through links in this site, including but not limited to any errors in or omissions therefrom, (C) the unavailability of this site or any portion thereof, (D) your use of this site, or (E) your use of any equipment or software in connection with this site.

Personal information submitted to the website

Any information that you send us in an email message might not be confidential or privileged. No server or e-mail service is 100 percent secure, and you should take this into account when submitting personal or confidential data about yourself on any web site, including this one.

Additionally, while the web site does not gather your name, email address or similar information about you without your knowledge or consent, the web site does permit you to voluntarily submit data about yourself so that we can provide you with requested services. The information gathered may be incorporated into our mailing database and will not be sold to third parties for marketing purposes. If you are interested in having us represent you, you should call us so we can determine whether the matter is one for which we are willing or able to accept professional responsibility. We will not make this determination by email communication.

The telephone number for our office is listed in this web site. We reserve the right to decline any representation. We may be required to decline representation if it would create a conflict of interest with our other clients.

Electronic Form Submissions

The mere submission of a contact form does not necessarily form an attorney-client relationship with Joel Ankney. However, if my case or project is evaluated and I receive a response from the firm, I understand that an attorney-client relationship may be formed under Virginia Bar Interpretation. If I do not receive a response, my case was not evaluated; hence an attorney-client relationship has not been formed.

If you send us information electronically via this web site, you agree that our review of that information, even if you submitted it in a good faith effort to retain us, and, further, even if it is highly confidential, does not preclude us from representing another client directly adverse to you, even in a matter where that information could and will be used against you.

I agree that the information that I will receive in response to the above question is general information and I will not be charged for the response to this e-mail question. I further understand that the law for each state may vary, and therefore, I will not rely upon this information as legal advice. Due to the reach of the internet, this matter may require advice regarding my home state; I agree that local counsel may be contacted for referral of this matter.

If you are interested in having us represent you, you should call us so we can determine whether the matter is one for which we are willing or able to accept professional responsibility. We will not make this determination by e-mail confirmation.
